AQUA-TUB
Duration: 2019 January - March
CONTEXT
With the changes of the times, the cultural connotation and various image characteristics of bath are gradually evolving, especially in modern times, the combination of various bath culture and the background of the times, modeling design and high-end science and technology has derived a variety of new trends about the bathroom life.
The rise and development of bath culture centered on bathtub is based on the influence of this trend. It turns out that our bodies associate horizontal conditions with relaxation and vulnerability, particularly in the bath, which possibly mimics the warm, liquid conditions of the womb. Some scholars think that this particular positioning gives us a sensation of security. In addition, taking a bath is not about getting clean—that’s what showers are for. Baths are about calming your troubled mind and soothing your aches and pains, both physical and emotional.
BACKGROUND RESEARCH
1.Being Horizontal In Water Helps Your Mood
"Taking baths yields several positive results including improving mood, decreasing stress, promoting better sleep, and relieving muscle pain," cardiologist Dr. Edo Paz of K Health tells Bustle.
2. Baths Can Help Relieve Skin Conditions
Researchers at Stanford found that baths in 0.005% bleach helped eczema sufferers both by killing the bacteria on the skin and by dampening the immune system's inflammation response, reducing pain and swelling.
3. Bath Heat Can Help With Muscle Pain
The real culprit behind the relief of muscle pain in your bath isn't actually your bath salts: depending on the type of bath you take, it's either heat or lactic acid.
4. Hot Baths Before Bed Produce Better Sleep
A good night's sleep is associated with a host of health benefits, from immune system strength to better pain recovery, and a heated bath before bed is apparently a good way to ensure that you drift off to the Land of Nod without too much difficulty.
5. Steam Helps To Reduce Cold Symptoms
The inhalation of steam is an excellent remedy for cold-induced misery. It clears out the nasal passages while reducing inflammation, and a steamy bath is a great source of the stuff.

Most office workers have a big problem for sleep.
-
Researchers found that 76 percent of workers in the U.S. feel tired many days of the week. Nearly 15 percent of the people also said they fell asleep during the day while at work at least once a week.
-
Through a questionnaire survey of 32 people, the report shows about one-third of all the participants reported unhappiness with their sleep quality.
-
Actually, being around water gives our brains and our senses a rest from overstimulation. Water can induce a meditative state. So take a warm bath before bed to get to sleep faster
THE BIG PROBLEM
How to give our brain a better downtime and rest during hot tub ?
IDEATION
Phase 1 - defining the project
Through a preliminary study, combined with the information about science and technology found, I completed the first story of ideation draft. Based on the three aspects of encounter, activation, and deactivation, five touch points are listed.
Phase 2 - turning words into pictures
Based on the story and technologies, I began to expand my ideas and design some different ways when people are tak- ing a shower. By using holograms, a vivid picture projector, floating bath designs and different mood lighting control. Let users have a complete immersive experience. At the same time, combined with my own brand, I used a simple and clean arc to reflect the modern style.
Phase 3 - turning great stories into great designs
In this step, I try to combine different methods and technologies to better bring the user experience and appeal. For example, mag- netic suspension technology is used to enable the bath to be sus- pended in the air. Create a product that is completely relaxing and enjoyable through a lot of futuristic design.
Phase 4 - form inspirations
Looking at those natural things, they have the organic shape which is inspired me.
Stones with different curves and shapes can be used in the design of the bath. The shape of the shell is like a small tank and wrapped up. The leaves curled and formed with different shape.
Phase 5 - making it real
Through the previous step, I got some futuristic bath design. In this step, I need to make them practical. So I started to design every detail, how to switch the bath, how to let the user better enter the bath, the placement of music equipment, and the design of the atmosphere light are solved in this step.
